***Updated Z Guild Loot Rules***
::Earning Points::
Once you have been cleared for raiding by the guild officers, you will earn points each time you raid with Z Guild. Points are awarded as follows:
+2 points for being on time and ready to zone in at start time
+1 point per hour spent raiding
+1 point per boss killed
+1 point per boss attempt on progression fights
Therefore, a three-hour raid where four bosses are killed will yield 2 + 3 + 4 = 9 points.
::Raid Roles::
Z Guild's loot system recognizes three raid roles: tanking, healing and DPS.
A raider's MAIN RAID ROLE is that role they fulfill in their primary spec. Example: Dryden is main spec Protection; his main raid role is Tank.
A raider's SECONDARY RAID ROLE is that role they fulfill with their CURRENT DUAL SPEC. Example: Vanis is main spec Holy, dual spec Protection; his main raid role is Healer, his secondary raid role is Tank.
Please note that not every raider can have a secondary raid role. Pure DPS classes can only fill one raid role: DPS. Also, an Elemental/Enhancement Shaman or Holy/Discipline Priest is considered to fulfill only one raid role (DPS or healing, in this case).
Players with a secondary raid role get two main benefits: one, they pay a minimum of 10 for items for their secondary raid role, and two, they receive priority over alts and third specs for items for their secondary raid role.
To have a secondary raid role, you must have an active dual spec that fulfills a role that is different from your main spec. PvP specs DO NOT COUNT as secondary raid roles.
::Spending Points::
Raid points are used to bid on loot that drops during Z Guild raids. There are three types of bids:
Type 1: MAIN CHARACTER/MAIN RAID ROLE
Type 2: MAIN CHARACTER/SECONDARY RAID ROLE
Type 3: All other bid types
A bid of Type 1 is always considered before a bid of Type 2 or 3. A bid of Type 2 is considered before a bid of Type 3. Bids of Type 3 are considered last.
When loots drops in a raid, the Raid Leader links the item to be bid on in raid chat, and all interested parties whisper their bids to the designated officer (usually the Raid Leader, except when he or she is interested in bidding). If you are bidding for a secondary raid role or an alt, you must specify that in your message.
Loot for your MAIN CHARACTER/MAIN RAID ROLE requires a minimum bid of 20 points. Loot for your MAIN CHARACTER/SECONDARY RAID ROLE costs a minimum of 10 points. Loot for non-raiding specs or alts requires a minimum bid of 20 points.
If you do not have enough points to pay the minimum bid for an item, you may send a bid of "minimum" or "min" rather than a number. This signifies that you do not have enough points to bid for the item. A BID OF "20" WILL ALWAYS BEAT A BID OF "MINIMUM," EVEN THOUGH THEY REPRESENT THE SAME AMOUNT OF POINTS.
::Looting Restrictions::
There are certain restrictions on who is able to loot certain items. There may be additional restrictions beyond those listed below.
1. You may only bid on items your character can use.
2. When bidding on items that are useful to you but which are not designed specifically for your class, your bid will be considered after those characters who are of the appropriate class. EXAMPLE 1: a Holy Paladin may bid on mail healing gear, but if there is a Restoration Shaman present who also bid, the Shaman will win. EXAMPLE 2: a healer may bid on gear with +hit, but if a DPSer also bids the DPSer will win, since +hit is a DPS stat.
3. Characters who have less than 20 (or less than 10 for off-spec gear) points must bid minimum for all items they are interested in. If two such raiders both bid minimum on an item, they must roll off. The winner takes the item for minimum. If two people bid minimum, but one of them has more than 20 points, the person with the higher point total wins automatically.
4. In the rare cases where PvP loot drops in PvE content (i.e., the Vault of Archavon), players will have the opportunity to bid on said loot, with a minimum bid of 10 points. Should no player place a bid, the item will be rolled on, and the winner takes the item for no points.
5. "Vanity" items (items which do not directly affect player stats, such as bags, mounts, out-of-combat pets, etc.) are always rolled on rather than bid on, and the winner takes the item for no points.
6. Items that are harvested from a raid instance (through mining, skinning, herbalism, etc.) are collected by a designated officer or other raid member and are placed in the guild bank. They can be purchased by guild members for 1/2 the auction house price. This rule also applies to items such as the gem bag from Onyxia.
7. Rare recipes and patterns that drop in raid instances are given to the designated guild crafter for that profession (e.g., Dryden for Blacksmithing, Fenner for Leatherworking, etc.). If a duplicate pattern drops, it is rolled on by all present profession members with the skill to learn it and awarded to the winner for no points.
8. Rare crafting materials from instances are picked up by the Raid Leader and placed in the guild bank. They can be purchased for 1/2 the auction house price. The exception is Primordial Saronite, which are bid on one at a time as they drop. Minimum bid is 5 points per piece.
9. Quest drops for Legendary items are bid on when the first piece drops. The winner gets to loot said items until he or she has enough to complete the quest for the item. If that person is not present when a piece drops, a second bid is held, and the winner of that bid gets to loot the pieces whenever the first winner is not present.
10. When the Raid Leader requires a raider to join the raid using an alt character, that raider has the OPTION to bid as though that character were his or her main character for the duration of the raid. Meanwhile, the raider's real main character will be treated as an alt character. The raider MUST inform the Raid Leader of this decision BEFORE any bosses are killed or loot drops, and the Raid Leader must announce the change to the raid. Once the raider makes this decision, he or she cannot switch back for the duration of the night. THIS RULE DOES NOT APPLY TO CHARACTERS USING A DUAL SPEC TO FILL A SECONDARY RAID ROLE.
