SO QUESTION!
What do I now get to replace that card?
- I want to keep it at about 200.
- I have an Aspire 520w PSU
- The slot is a PCI-E x16 (1.0-1.1)
- Athalon x2 3800
- 2 gigs of ram
PCI-E 2.0 is completely backwards compatible with PCI-E v1.x. Graphic cards and motherboards designed for v2.0 will be able to work with v1.1 and v1.0, and vice versa. In some rare cases it is possible that a PCI-E 2.0 card will not work correctly on a PCI-E 1.0a slot. This is only limited to certain video cards.

I know your $14.99 entitles you to play WoW how you want, However the rest of the raids $359.76 says otherwise.....

Thanks because I couldn't find an exact YES or NO.
I am quite happy with my 8800GT. It is a bit more then 200, closer to 300 unless you find a rebate/sale. The 9600's appear to be nothing more then a rehash of the G92 line (which is used in the 8800GT and the 512 GTS's) since Nvidia realized they don't need anything competitive until ATI gets there heads out of the ground. This sets up Nvidia real nice for a new chipset for it's 10 series.
8800GT in my opinion is the balancing point between cost and performance. If you want to spend a little more cash, which you don't, the 512 MB (must be 512 to be a G92) 8800GTS clocks a tad more frames then the GT does.
If you want the G92 chipset, but need to save cash, and don't mind a crippled card, then a 9600 is suitable, especially for WoW.
