Duties:

Short-term contract with a San-Diego-based biotechnology company to implement and test RMAN (Oracle Recovery Manager) backups on several Linux based Oracle instances. A separate recovery catalog was built on a Windows based host and backups were completed on several Oracle8i, Oracle9i and 10g instances. Scripts were written and stored in the catalog for several backup/recovery scenarios, and complete documentation was provided.

Duties:

Provided day-to-day support of several SQL Server 2000 databases on a short-term contract for DefenseWeb in Pacific Beach. This job encompassed fixing broken backups, documenting, fixing and/or eliminating broken processes, and evaluating replication to a remote facility for disaster recovery. There was also contract specific support for one of their client customers which involved debugging, troubleshooting and performance tuning for anything currently going on in the database.

Duties:

In a recent experience at Cardinal Health PYXIS, I was responsible for data in Sybase ASA, Replication Server, SQL Server… including analysis, installations, administration, ETL (extract transformation load: SSIS), and reporting. I was also responsible for project task definitions and management schedules as well as team lead over one Cardinal employee. I was published four times on SQL Server SSIS issues and techniques.

Duties:

Modeling expertise provided for a Marine Corps contract through SAIC where I took a relatively small database that had “grown” and normalized it. The first challenge with this database was to take the “person” data from more than 35 locations (in almost as many data formats) and consolidate it into a single “person subject area” that consisted of approximately nine entities and 50-60 attributes. After this normalization I wrote the scripts to do the data transformations and migration.
